This Brookfield Mexican Restaurant Has Permanently Closed

Jose’s Blue Sombrero in Brookfield will not reopen.

A fire that initially temporarily shuttered the flagship Brookfield location of Jose’s Blue Sombrero (20371 W. Blue Mound Rd.) earlier this month has resulted in the permanent closing of that restaurant, according to a press release from parent company DeRosa Corp.

Owner Joe DeRosa says the fire started in a kitchen wall, resulting in extensive damage. He adds that the “cost of necessary repairs do not make economical business sense at this time.”

The restaurant has been closed since Jan. 5.

“We are so proud to have been part of the Brookfield community and want to extend a heartfelt and sincere thank you to all of our loyal customers who we’ve had the pleasure of serving for almost 15 years,” says DeRosa. “This was a difficult decision, but we hope to welcome our customers and friends to one of the other Jose’s Blue Sombrero locations in Wauwatosa, Fox Point and Racine or at our other Brookfield restaurant, Parkside 23.”

DeRosa says the company plans to sell restaurant property later this year.
