This Bites: Winter Farmers Market and the Bittercube Bar & Bazaar

Milwaukee’s culinary podcast talks cocktails, too.

Milwaukee’s “culinary podcast.” That’s us! That’s This Bites, which I host every Friday with Tarik Moody on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee. It’s November and yes, that means menus are getting heartier and drinks are getting stiffer.

It’s also time to think more creatively about getting your Vitamin D. The return (Saturday, Nov. 3) of the Milwaukee Winter Farmers Market (in its 10th season!) couldn’t come at a better time. Why? Because it’s in the Greenhouse Annex at the Mitchell Park Domes, which allows in some of that precious light. And you get to buy cool stuff and hang out. Tarik and I talk about what you can expect there this year.

Bittercube, the company that launched a successful line of bitters and has consulted for many bars and restaurants, has a new home. It’s the Bittercube Bar & Bazaar at 4828 W. Lisbon Ave. This functions as a production facility, cocktail bar and a retail store. The company recently relocated from the Lincoln Warehouse, which was also home to Dock 18 Cocktail Lab. The new space allows these talented people to better their skills and products, which have grown to include a line of elixirs. Dock 18’s experimental drinks still factor in as well. Tarik and I explain.

We finish up the segment talking about my review of View MKE (the successor to Wolf Peach) in our November issue.
