On the latest This Bites ‒ the dining podcast on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee ‒ Tarik Moody and I kick things off with the grand opening of Good City Brewing’s Downtown location, in the Milwaukee Bucks’ Entertainment Block. Like its East Side sibling, it is serving a full food menu to go along with Good City’s beers. That ranges from a double cheeseburger to gnocchi with marinated tempeh. Good City also installed a stone-hearth pizza oven, which explains the five pizzas on the menu (pepperoni, grilled veg and more). 

It’s a few months yet before the eating extravaganza known as Downtown Dining Week. But this week (Feb. 25, to be exact) is the kickoff for Taste & Toast, which features specially priced small plates, appetizers and drinks (including non-alcoholic) at 20-plus restaurants (Feb. 25-March 1, from 4 to 7 p.m.). The restaurants include Rumpus Room, The Brown Bottle, Smoke Shack and more. We’ll tell you about what’s on some of the menus. 

The chef-owners of EsterEv (the prix fixe restaurant inside DanDan that’s open on Fri and Sat nights) have announced their latest series of collaborative dinners with chefs from restaurants like Madison’s L’Etoile and Chicago’s Blackbird. The first dinner in the series, on March 13, is with chef Ryan Pfeiffer of Blackbird. All of the dinners feature 10 courses and reservations are required. 

On March 16, The Landing at Hoyt Park will host a night for Wisconsin supper club fans that includes a film, slide show and classic fish fry with potato pancakes and relish try. Learn about this and more on our segment.
