88Nine's Tarik Moody and I talk about Anthony Bourdain's new documentary, plus a Filipino pop-up dinner and a pretty rad pie competition.

Food waste is a huge topic of debate. And it’s the main topic on the October 13 edition of This Bites (Fridays, 8 a.m. on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee).  A documentary called Wasted! The Story of Food Waste is hitting theaters in bigger cities this weekend (it’s also on Amazon.com and iTunes). Food writer Anthony Bourdain produced and narrated the film, which encourages people to make better use of what they have and to waste less food.

Co-host Tarik Moody and I also dip into our love of Filipino cuisine, the lead-in to a one-night pop-up Filipino restaurant at Bavette. We have the menu and details on that, and finally, we finish up with the Great Midwestern Pie Championship, the main event this weekend at Palomino during Bay View’s Beet Street harvest festival.

Stream our episode for the height of culinary entertainment value! Well, we think so.
