This Bites: Peanut Butter & Jelly Deli is Now Open

A shop entirely dedicated to the wonders of the PB&J

Tarik Moody and I lead off this week’s installment of This Bites (Fridays, 8 a.m., on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee) with the new Peanut Butter & Jelly Deli in West Allis (6125 W. Greenfield). If you love PB&J sandwiches, this place promises to make all your dreams come true. It offers various nut butters ground on-site, and an impressive number of different jams, jellies and fruit butters.

As a prelude of sorts to Downtown Dining Week, which takes place in June, some 30 Downtown businesses (from Miller Time Pub & Grill to Bacchus) are making happy hour particularly enticing for Taste & Toast, which offers appetizers, small plates and drink deals this week (March 5-9, Monday-Friday, 4-7 p.m.). Note that not all of the restaurants in the mix are open on Mondays or before 5 p.m. Check the Milwaukee Downtown website for menu info as well.

And last but not least, in Milwaukee Magazine’s March issue, I write about a cafe worth driving to East Troy for. It’s called 2894 On Main and is helmed by Jonna Froelich, the former chef from I.d. at the Delafield Hotel

Ann Christenson has covered dining for Milwaukee Magazine since 1997. She was raised on a diet of casseroles that started with a pound of ground beef and a can of Campbell's soup. Feel free to share any casserole recipes with her.
