This Bites: Kehr’s Candies, and the New ‘Micro’ Food Hall

This episode takes wild conversational turns from molded chocolates to tacos with ‘crunchy noods’ (code for ‘noodles’).

Check out the latest This Bites podcast on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee. Tarik Moody and I pack this episode with many pounds of food speak. First, Kehr’s Candies, whose confections are available at Milwaukee Public Market, allowed me to shadow them for a morning while they kicked into holiday candy-making season. That became a story for the December issue of Milwaukee Magazine, and you’ll hear about some highlights from my visit.

Collective Crossroads is the name of the “micro” food hall opening on Prospect and North on Dec. 17.  The vendors include Laughing Taco, Beerline Cafe, Heavens Table BBQ, Scratch Ice Cream and the Falafel Guys.

Miss Molly’s Cafe and Pastry Shop on 92nd and Center is doing another series of  Friday Pizza Nights. The first was Dec. 7; the next is Jan. 4.  The menu includes pizzas topped three different ways, a family-style salad, build-your-own ice cream bar and root beer floats!

A couple other podcast highlights: Tarik’s visit to the new Korean fried chicken bar Merge, and the new taco Tuesday at Meat on the Street, at Eleven25 at Pabst.

Ann Christenson has covered dining for Milwaukee Magazine since 1997. She was raised on a diet of casseroles that started with a pound of ground beef and a can of Campbell's soup. Feel free to share any casserole recipes with her.
