It may be a little warmer outside (right now anyway), but you’ll want to throw on your down parka for this icy-cold edition of This Bites on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee. Tarik Moody and I discuss some reasons that standing outside sounds really, um, cool.
While it’s pretty chilly right now, the forecast is for a comparatively mild weekend so the date originally planned for this ice bar extravaganza has been pushed from Saturday Jan. 19 to Wednesday Jan. 24. The Third Ward businesses are unveiling their ice sculptures at 5 p.m. that day at “A Toast to Winter: MKE Ice Bars.” Cafe Benelux, The Wicked Hop and St. Paul Fish Market (which had an ice bar last winter) are all offering drinks in their hand-carved ice bars. Part of the proceeds go to charity.
Also, with it being the beginning of 2018, we look at some of the trends expected to make waves in dining this year. Regional Mexican food and “functional mushrooms” are a just a couple. Hungry for more?
