This Bites: A Grilled Cheese Showdown

Plus, a second location of a local favorite, and an upcoming booze-oriented holiday.

This Bites, my dining segment with 88Nine Radio Milwaukee’s Tarik Moody, has quite the April 6 show for you.

First up: grilled cheese. What kind of kitchen skills have you got? And what kind of recipe-crafting skills have you got? If those are mad skills, the Grilled Cheese Academy wants you. The academy is accepting recipes in four categories for its 2018 Wisconsin Grilled Cheese Recipe Showdown and considering the past years’ winners, they like people to think out of the (bread) box.

All you Blue’s Egg fans out there, this is for you: The owners are currently at work on their second location, on Shorewood’s Oakland Avenue.  The opening isn’t set in stone but hopefully before Memorial Day.

In honor of the alcohol-themed holiday on Monday, April 9 ‒ National Gin & Tonic Day ‒ we talk about some local places to get a get G&T made with Milwaukee’s Great Lakes Distillery gin and Top Note Tonics. Not your basic G&Ts, to be sure.
