This Bites: Bob’s Burgers at Lazy Susan; Vegan ‘Sol’ Food & Drink Expo

Also: a new Third Ward happy hour, and the restaurant opening in Historic Turner Hall

This weekend is so jam-packed with stuff (Doors Open, 5th Street Fest, Petfest) that it makes the duo behind 88Nine Radio Milwaukee’s This Bites ‒ Tarik Moody and me ‒ really hungry. Then again, most things make us hungry. We cover a lot in this episode, starting with the Vegan Sol Food & Drink Expo on Saturday Sept. 22 at Nicolet High School in Glendale. This includes food samples, cooking demos and food-based lectures, among other things.

Happy hour is a very important part of the work week. We talk about two ‒ Lazy Susan’s Wed-Fri happy hour featuring a different burger from the animated TV show “Bob’s Burgers,” which apparently has an endless amount of burger fodder. These are burgers only served at the bar during happy hour (5-7 p.m.). In the Third Ward, the new modern-French Fauntleroy kicked off its happy this week with a special burger ‒ the Grande Royale with Cheese! ‒ a sandwich (croque madame), as well as drink specials, all happy hour priced.

Rounding out the episode is Tavern at Turner, the Mike Eitel-owned restaurant opening in Historic Turner Hall in early October, and the She Stands Tall lecture series event featuring the owners of Bay View’s Cafe Lulu on Tuesday, Sept.  25. This lecture is held at Lazy Susan and also will have a light meal.
