Milwaukee's favorite season is here: Summerfest! Plus beer, bikes, brunch and more.
Wednesday marked the beginning of the annual 11-day music festival. Did you know that we’re your one-stop-shop for all things Summerfest, now? There’s quite a few exciting concerts to see this weekend, as well. On Thursday, we’re excited for Lizzo, the Avett Brothers and Counting Crows. For Friday, Brandi Carlile, T-Pain and Styx are all quality acts. Saturday Bon Iver, Jimmy Eat World and Chicago are noteworthy performers. And finally on Sunday, the Zac Brown Band, Catfish and the Bottleman and the National are just a few we’ll be watching.
There’s nothing quite like meeting up with a few friends, drinking good beer, listening to live music and celebrating your favorite bar. Burnhearts and Pabst Blue Ribbon come together to host the 12th Annual Burnhearts/Pabst Street Party on Saturday, June 29 beginning at noon at the corner of Potter and Logan avenues. Guests can enjoy six musical acts, local vendors and great beer.
Calling all comic book fans, this is the convention you could’ve been waiting for. The Wisconsin Comic Convention takes place Friday, June 28 through Sunday, June 30 at varying times at the Wisconsin Center (400 W. Wisconsin Ave.). You’ll be able to see lots of comic books, meet comic creators and celebrity guests, listen in on panels and more.
The company We Love Pub Crawls takes on Milwaukee with a Margarita and Taco bar crawl bash on Saturday, June 29 at 4 p.m. beginning at Brothers Bar and Grill (1213 N. Water St.). Do we need to say more? Every ticket gets attendees a free margarita, shot, koozie and two tacos. From bar to bar, expect to experience various decades at each bar and discounted beers, margaritas and tacos.
Hypnotist and and comedian Flip Orley comes to Milwaukee to combine both of his talents into one performance. Flip Orley takes center stage on Saturday, June 29 at 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Fiserv Forum (1111 Vel R. Phillips Ave.). Orley will first make you laugh with his stand-up comedy and then entertains the audience with his engaging hypnosis act.
Once again, the streets cyclists will take over downtown Shorewood. The Shorewood Criterium Cycling Classic returns on Thursday, June 27 starting as soon as 10:30 a.m. at 4414 N. Oakland Ave. Onlookers can cheer on all age groups and talent levels while getting a bite to eat or sipping on a local brew at some of the restaurants surrounding the path.
The classic race is back. The Queen’s Cup Race takes place Friday, June 28 at 5 p.m. at the South Shore Yacht Club (2300 E. Nock St.). All are welcome to come watch the race across the lake will run between Milwaukee and St. Joe. There will also be plenty of viewing parties, too.
Why not spice up your normal Sunday brunch? Garage (1709 N. Arlington Pl.) will host a Drag Brunch on Sunday, June 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each ticket includes a free mimosa and the acts include Nina Pinta Santa Maria, Maribella Sodi, Dora Diamond, Austy Cottin and hosted by Favorite Tempest Heat – Stratton.
