These 3 Local Restaurants Are Doing Patios Right

Here are three restaurants going above and beyond with their patio service.

IF YOU’RE DINING at a restaurant this summer, you’re likely eating alfresco. Some restaurants are implementing protocols to keep diners and staff safe.

1. Ristorante Bartolotta

7616 W. STATE ST., WAUWATOSA | 414-771-7910

Setting the bar high is Ristorante Bartolotta dal 1993, which is seating diners on a new courtyard with plenty of space between tables. Diners need to wear face masks when addressing staff and entering the building, and the ordering system has been streamlined to include touchless menus and payment options. Reservations are required.

VOTE FOR MILWAUKEE’S BEST BEER!

What’s Brew City’s best? We’ve picked 16 of our favorite Milwaukee craft beers for a March Madness-style tournament, but it’s up to you to pick the winner! Will it be bright and hoppy? Dark and malty? A zippy lager? Every one is worthy of the title; who will claim the sudsy crown?

2. La Merenda

125 E. NATIONAL AVE. | 414-389-0125

Also on the ball with social distancing is La Merenda. The Walker’s Point small-plates spot requires masks any time diners enter the building – and you have to enter to get to the patio. Outside there’s a mix of well-spaced-out tables available. Call ahead to reserve a spot.

3.  DanDan

360 E. Erie St. | 414-488-8036

At DanDan in the Third Ward, it’s counter-service only. Guests (in masks) place their order inside at the bar and are given a table number for patio seating. A DanDan employee brings the order to the table. Here, patio seats are first-come, first-served.

Ann Christenson has covered dining for Milwaukee Magazine since 1997. She was raised on a diet of casseroles that started with a pound of ground beef and a can of Campbell's soup. Feel free to share any casserole recipes with her.
