Sunny Daze
BRIANNA SCHUBERT, ASSOCIATE DIGITAL EDITOR
I start with a slow morning – sitting on my couch with the sun pouring in through the window, sipping a cup of freshly brewed Anodyne Coffee and reading a book. Then I’m walking to Zócalo Food Truck Park for lunch. For me, it’s an arepa from Anytime Arepa, savoring every bite. If it’s one of the monthly 414 Flea days at Zócalo, I’ll be spending some quality browsing time, too. Then, I’ll meet up with friends for Pete’s Pops – one pistachio creamsicle for me please!

Brews and Brewers
CHRIS DROSNER, EXECUTIVE EDITOR
It’s 78 degrees and partly cloudy, with a light breeze out of the west. (Hey, we did say perfect!) After sleeping in, the fam and I are taking 2021 MilMag cover dog Riley for a romp through the prairie and forest of County Grounds Park followed by a cheeseburger and custard at Gilles. After lunch, we’ll meet friends on the patio at Third Space Brewing. Next up, a Brewers game. (Brandon Woodruff is pitching.) We’ll close out the day with a nightcap at some combination of Vennture Brew Co., the Drunken Cobra and Lion’s Tail Brewing.

Going with the Flow
ANN CHRISTENSON, DINING EDITOR
After lazily crawling out of bed, I grab my yoga mat and water bottle and head to Big Bay Park in Whitefish Bay to do 50 sun salutations on the bluff. For sustenance and some fresh, local foods, South Shore Farmers Market comes next, because a Liège-style waffle from Press, with its signature coating of caramelized pearl sugar, is calling my name. I’ll probably make a salad from my farmers market haul, maybe work in a leisurely bike ride or possibly plant myself on a friend’s patio for some nosh. Nothing’s set in stone, because the perfect summer day, for me, is about letting the day simply happen.
Lakefront Literature
ARCHER PARQUETTE, MANAGING EDITOR
My perfect summer day starts with a morning walk through Lake Park. The Frederick Law Olmsted-designed space is a gem in the city. From there, I strut my stuff on over to the Lakefront Colectivo, an obvious but no less awesome spot for a summer coffee. After that, it’s northward to Boswell Book Co. to buy my latest read from the friendly novel-peddlers, and then down to Bradford Beach to enjoy it in the sun.
Oh, Those Summer Nights
ALLI WATTERS, EDITOR, DIGITAL & CULTURE
Summer days are great, but for me it’s summer nights – and I’m on a boat. The ride is a rental from Riverwalk Boat Tours, and I fill it with my big, loud, loving family. My dad is the captain, and my mom packed the cooler with prosecco and a charcuterie board from Charcuter-Me. We make a few stops along the river, but most importantly we pick up a pizza from Riverfront Pizzeria. Then we head under the Hoan Bridge and listen to the live music coming from the Summerfest stages as we float.
