Mid-March is the expected roll-out for an “evening restaurant experience” created by chefs Nell Benton (owner of The National) and Thi Cao (of Buckley’s Restaurant and Bar). The couple, who recently became engaged, will offer dinner at The National (839 W. National Ave.) on Tuesdays through Saturdays, 5-10 p.m. (The National serves daily breakfast and lunch.) Of the menu, they talk of “traditionally styled” apps, mains, sides and desserts. In the summer, seating will extend to the patio or “secret garden,” whose decor includes fairy lights and a fountain. Prior to Buckley’s, Cao’s gigs have been at Café Calatrava and the late Osteria del Mondo. He will stay at Buckley’s at least through Valentine’s Day, says Benton.
