1. Eat a Delicious Muffaletta at Glorioso’s
ARCHER PARQUETTE, MANAGING EDITOR
In my dream world, I conduct all my business from a small table in front of an Italian deli. You want to talk about an article? Deli. Time for an interview? Deli. My adoring fan club wants a quick meet-and-greet? Deli. Glorioso’s, I must say, fits the bill. What an amazing spot – the Italian sandwiches, the bakery, the old world groceries. Last week, I stopped by for lunch and ordered a muffaletta. Madone. That sandwich was lovely, all those cold cuts, the oil. My ancestors were proud.
2. Spend a Day at Bradford Beach
CAROLE NICKSIN, EDITOR AND PUBLISHER
Now that it finally feels like summer, I’m going to start checking off all the summery things on my list. For starters, I’ll head on over to Bradford Beach. I’ll bring a sandwich and lots of sunscreen, and spend the day reading and relaxing. Maybe, around 4 p.m., I’ll walk over to the beach bar and have a beer. Good times!

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!
3. Make Soba Salad With Peanut Sauce
ANN CHRISTENSON, DINING EDITOR
This could be the summer of the cold noodle salad for me. I just made Hetty Lui McKinnon’s soba salad with peanut sauce and I’m dreaming about my leftovers. This salad is easy and quick – the most time-consuming part is chopping the vegetables into matchsticks. It’d been a while since I made soba, a delicate buckwheat noodle that cooks quickly (less than 5 minutes) and holds onto to dressings really well. It’s also is just a great noodle to eat cold. The slippery, gloopy texture complements crisp raw veggies like cucumber, carrot (not in the recipe but I added it), bell pepper and radish. Thee best parts (to me) come right before serving – a generous drizzle of peanut sauce (drizzle is not the word – pour is), some chopped scallions, crushed peanuts, fresh cilantro and a little fresh lime juice, too. When I revisit this dish in leftover form, I will make one modification to the sauce. To balance out the sweetness, I’ll add more sriracha, though a suggestion I saw to use chile crisp sounds very promising.
4. Listen to Lorde’s New Album
BRIANNA SCHUBERT, DIGITAL EDITOR
I’ve always enjoyed Lorde’s music – Pure Heroine was a great album, so were Melodrama and Solar Power. I’ve loved songs off of all of them, listening with a loyalty I didn’t even fully realize I had. Her newest album, Virgin, however, has solidified me as a full-on Lorde fan. I’ve been listening to “Man of the Year” on repeat since it came out as a single a month ago, and off the full album, I’m obsessed with “Favorite Daughter” and “Current Affairs.” In fact, after I finish writing this, I’m going to listen to it while I work…
5. Browse Vinyl and CDs at Acme Records
EVAN MUSIL, ARTS AND CULTURE EDITOR
It’s hard to deem a record store “perfect” because it all depends on what you’re looking for. For example, Lilliput has an excellent selection of new vinyl, but its used section is smaller than most shops. And that’s before factoring in your taste. But for me, Acme Records hits that “perfect” spot. Lots of fresh releases and quality used wax from every genre and ranging from the mainstream to the obscure. And a stellar jazz section, where I recently found my grail of Wayne Shorter’s Juju. Now to start my CD collection. (CDs are in now! Tell your friends!)
