It’s a city-wide happy hour!

Downtown Milwaukee will host a major happy hour event next month. Taste & Toast features 17 restaurants, bars and lounges all offering specially priced appetizers and small plates. This promotion runs March 7-11 from 4-7 p.m.

The dining and drinking establishments participating in the event include Blue Bat Kitchen & Tequilaria, Central Standard Crafthouse & Kitchen, Cubanitas, DOC’s Commerce Smokehouse, East Town Kitchen & Bar, Flannery’s, Giggly Champagne & Wine Bar, The Knick, Oak Barrel Public House, Onesto, Pfister Lobby Lounge, SafeHouse, Smoke Shack, SportClub, Stella Van Buren, Third Street Tavern and Who’s on Third.

We want to see your best work. Architects, interior designers, renovation experts and landscapers: Enter your residential projects in Milwaukee Magazine’s new design competition.

Menus for the event are accessible on the Taste & Toast website. At Cubanitas, for example, you can choose from three appetizers – a plantain platter with guacamole, empanada meal with rice and beans, and mini guava BBQ pulled pork sliders ($6-$8). Featured cocktails are a mojito, Cubanitas margarita, planter’s punch and a virgin pina colada ($4-$4.50).

Also, two diners who complete the event’s experience survey (by Monday, March 14) will receive over $150 in dining gift certificates. Winners will be randomly drawn. Participants will be able to find the survey here

Ann Christenson has covered dining for Milwaukee Magazine since 1997. She was raised on a diet of casseroles that started with a pound of ground beef and a can of Campbell's soup. Feel free to share any casserole recipes with her.
