Gaultier glam with Dita in Dallas!

On Wednesday, November 9 Jean Paul Gaultier and Dita Von Teese arrived at the U.S. premiere of “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier” at the Dallas Museum of Art. Burlesque Queen and fashion icon, Dita Von Teese wore a strapless black velvet gown with hussar bustier and bolero fur trimmed jacket from Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall 2002 Paris Couture Collection. I love the gown, and especially her red, red lipstick. That trend is here to stay for a while!! Even though she takes her clothes off for a living, she looks better than most women with them on! The…

Spoke puts men’s fashion pedal to Mequon’s metal!

Spoke Menswear owner Kathleen Eisenbrown doesn’t let a little thing like the recession get her down. She’s too busy focusing on the sartorial needs of the patrons of her successful retail clothing stores. Above and beyond this brand new men’s shop, she also owns the contemporary fashion boutique Gossip, also in Mequon.   I am convinced that the way to stay afloat these days retail wise is to really know your customer.  That is the kind of thinking that people really respond to these days.  A great men’s store is one that doesn’t feel too persnickety, or overdone, just like this…

Kidman goes Country in Couture

Movie star Nicole Kidman accompanied her husband, country crooner Keith Urban on the red carpet at the 45th Annual Country Music Association Awards in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday November 9th. The stupendous silver metallic,  intricately beaded dress is hot off the runway of Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall 2011/2012 Paris Couture Collection. Kidman stood out in a wonderful way from all the country queens in attendance, although many of them did step it up a notch.  Personally, I like the steely gray tones with her strawberry blonde hair, and soft makeup. I think the little choker necklace keeps it country style,…

I’ll take a Guinness please!

While in NYC last week, I took the opportunity to check out the Daphne Guinness exhibit at the F.I.T. Museum with my gal pal Debbie, an ex-pat of Miltown and fashion follower.  The Fashion Institute of Technology did an exemplary job of taking the socialite/ fashion icon’s (Daphne not Debbie, although she does look pretty swell!) impressive collection of over the top couture, and cobbling into a cohesive journey into the artistic life of a true fashion connoisseur.  While on the surface the beautiful heiress’ worldly life as a front row runway sitter could come off as irresponsible, her character…

Down Under Brand Comes to Boston Store via NYC!

Milwaukee’s own Bon-Ton Stores, (parent company of Boston Store); really know how to shake off the fall and winter blues.  By holding the presentation of their brand new, sizzling hot, exclusive clothing line in NYC of course!!  When offered the chance, I high tailed it to the East Coast for a quick overnighter to see what the hoopla was all about in person! The regional retailer, and the iconic Australian fashion brand, Mambo, invited me to help them celebrate their Spring 2012 Collection with a surf/skate themed soiree held at the Drive In Studios in Manhattan’s Chelsea district. The après…

Welcome Fashion Farm Boy

Ok, so I am making a couple of changes to the blog here. In the last few years, a realization about how I fit in to what’s happening out there in the world of fashion has crept up on me. Style and fashion sense are something that are innate and waiting to be tapped in everyone. I honestly believe that. Inspiration and ideas about living a more stylish life can come from so many places that I didn’t want to just limit them to clothing alone, hence the name change and new location of this dispatch.  Art, theatre, music, film,…
