You can catch Sister Hazel at the House of Harley (6221 W. Layton Ave.) Saturday, July 15, at 8 p.m. The group, known for the 1994 hit “All for You” has retained a cult following over the years from their extensive touring.
As bikers flock to Milwaukee this week to celebrate the Harley-Davidson’s Homecoming festival and the motorcycle company’s 120th anniversary, so do Sister Hazel’s fan club. The “Hazelnuts” fill venues around the country to support the band. “Live shows [are] what really brought people in and made them life-long fans,” says Mark Trojanowski, Sister Hazel’s drummer. “[Our] records don’t do justice to [Sister Hazel’s] sound live.”

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!
Their earlier sound, ’90s coffeehouse rock, is reminiscent of Counting Crows. Newer records like Lighter in the Dark and Elements embrace the country aspects of their roots rock. Lyrically, they evoke memories of listening to Tom Petty, blossoming love and the addictive power of dancing.
The band’s core lineup has remained the same since it formed in 1993. In 1997, they released their platinum-selling album …Somewhere More Familiar, which included the hit single “All for You.” Since then, the group has achieved niche success through a dedicated fan base fueled by early internet chatrooms and yearly fan-centered events, like the Hazelnut Hang, are held for the fans “who supported us all these years,” Trojanowski said.
The band isn’t daunted by the frequent touring. Trojanowski says that they are all doing their dream job. “It’s the fans who make shows amazing for us,” Trojanowski said.
