Riverwest Radio Ghost Walk Returns With Spooky Neighborhood Tours

Check out these 19 decked-out homes and businesses, each with its own eerie story.

Every building has a story, some scarier than others. That’s especially true in Riverwest, known for eerie residences like the Baba Yaga Hut, strung with doll parts.

Throughout October, the Riverwest Radio Ghost Walk gives people a tour of 19 decked-out homes and businesses there and in neighboring Harambee through a self-guided booklet. Each location has its own scary story and art that range from cute to gory.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

Jill Capicchioni started the project last year to raise money for the station and highlight the neighborhood’s creativity. “It felt weird that Riverwest didn’t have any specifically Halloween-y things,” she says.

Many local creatives volunteered for this year’s edition, which leans heavily into the area’s quirks. An infamous 2005 plane crash on Bremen Street serves as the inspiration for a new haunted tale and a T-shirt. Fresh stories about Café Corazón and Nessun Dorma are based on the owners’ own paranormal experiences. And a “bike-riding ghost” sculpture will mysteriously travel the Beerline Trail day by day.

You can buy Ghost Walk booklets ($10) at Riverwest stores, including Outpost Co-op on Capitol Drive, Ebb & Flow and more.
