Point Burger Bar to Open November 18

Specialty and build-your-own burger options meet beer and boozy shakes at this new West Side joint.

Point Burger Bar head chef Tom Peschong is ready to show off his menu-building skills. Expect that to happen on Wednesday, Nov. 18, the West Side burger joint’s first day of official life. Brian Ward, one of the business’ five partners, promises patties with vibrant, unexpected toppings. The array of burger choices is downright dizzying — almost two pages’ worth of important burger decision-making information. You can build your own burger (Angus beef, bison, lamb, duck, turkey, salmon and more, $7.45 and up), pick one of seven kinds of buns (brioche to pretzel) and one or more of the toppings galore (cheddar, bourbon bacon jam, avocado, pastrami, a fried egg). Then there’s the specialty burgers — Hangover, Earth (vegan patty) and Heartstopper (lotso cheese), among others ($9.45 and up). Sides include sour cream and chive fries, homemade chips, and sweet potato fries. In the category of menu “others” are everything from a foot-long Vienna hot dog and “adult” grilled cheese (three cheeses, tomato and bacon) to chicken pot pie ($8.45-$18.95).

And drinks, you say? Besides an extensive bottled beer list, there are alcoholic (and nonalcoholic) shakes, plus beer and hard cider floats. The many options occupy a whole menu page. When can you visit — and pad up your midsection for winter? Hours: regular menu served daily 10:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. (10950 W. Good Hope Rd., 414-797-2970)
