On Tuesday, over 200 people gathered to celebrate the fifth annual Betty Awards at Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel. The inspiring event highlighted the stories and accomplishments of this year’s six honorees and the legacy of Milwaukee Magazine’s founding publisher, Betty Quadracci.
“The majority of us on the staff never met Betty – yet we still feel her presence,” said Carole Nicksin, the magazine’s editor-in-chief and publisher. “Under Betty’s guidance, Milwaukee Magazine won the trust of this community. We work hard every day to maintain that trust, and to uphold the high standards she set.I think I speak for the entire Milwaukee Magazine team when I say that it is an honor to carry on this important work.”
The audience – including former Betty winners – heard from each of this years honorees: Della Wells, Dr. Ann Merkow, Gabriela Parra, Kimberly Kane, Kristina Ropella and Meagan Johnson. We also worked with LionArt Media to create video segments on each honoree, which will be available to view on milwaukeemag.com next week.

Our thanks to the event’s sponsors, including Quad, Baird and Foley & Lardner LLP, for making the event possible.
