In some ways, Flourchild Pizza is an underdog – a unicorn in a field of horses. Veering from the city’s predominant cracker-thin crust offerings, Flourchild builds its pies on a medium-thick foundation that toggles between crisp-flakiness and fluffy tenderness. It’s not a pizza to wolf down, but to savor with concentration. While standard cheese and sausage is well within their purview, the topping combos can be unexpected – and deliciously so. In our wild imagination, the ultimate Flourchild pie would be a sampler of eight of their greatest creations.

Its brick-and-mortar launch stalled by the COVID pandemic, Flourchild opened its location (722 N. Milwaukee St.) in 2022, after hosting pop-ups at sister restaurant Third Coast Provisions. The company also sells a line of frozen pizza at local Sendik’s stores, Beans & Barley, and other retailers.
