Milwaukee Public Schools, in partnership with the Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. and the Summerfest Foundation, Inc., present the MPS All-City Arts Festival May 9-11. This will be the culminating event to MPS Year of the Arts.
Throughout the 2017-2018 school year, MPS Year of the Arts led efforts to unlock the world of art to over 77,000 children in Milwaukee through engaging experiences in classrooms, schools and communities across the city. Students were exposed to a wide range of arts, sampling visual, performing, culinary and literary arts in the form of painting, photography, music, theater, menu creation, flavor profiles, poetry and creative writing, to name a few.
This was all made possible by the host of community partners who provide access to the local art scene and artists from all over the world, built upon MPS’ existing infrastructure and celebrate the artistic talent of Milwaukee’s young men and women.
The festival will celebrate students like Romeo, Elliot, Jocelyn and Lamont who are just a few of the multitude of artists who will showcase the skills they’ve learned over the past year. Other elementary, middle and high school students will perform art in all forms including visual, music, dance, theater and spoken word.
The MPS All-City Arts Festival takes place at Henry Maier Festival Park on Wednesday, May 9, to Thursday, May 10, 10 a.m.-2 p.m; and Friday, May 11, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
