It’s election day, people.

It’s election day in Wisconsin, gentle readers. The JS has voting requirement information you should check before heading to your polling location.

  • The county and Couture developers have crossed one of the final hurdles in building the tax-exempt residential, transit and commercial property, announced the county executive, whose job is in the hands of voters today.
  • He may not be running for president, but Wisconsin son Paul Ryan is raising gobs of cash nonetheless.
  • Do you have asthma or another respiratory disease? Global warming won’t be kind to you, warns the White House in a new report.
  • A group called Milwaukee Rising is helping Sherman Park residents give their neighborhood a face lift, and the efforts seem to be paying off.
  • The legislature passed a law favorable to debt-buying companies. Wisconsin Public Radio dives into its implications.

Claire Hanan worked at the magazine as an editor from 2012-2017. She edited the Culture section and wrote stories about all sorts of topics, including the arts, fashion, politics and more. In 2016, she was a finalist for best profile writing at the City and Regional Magazine Awards for her story "In A Flash." In 2014, she won the the Milwaukee Press gold award for best public service story for editing "Handle With Care," a service package about aging in Milwaukee. Before all this, she attended the University of Missouri's School of Journalism and New York University's Summer Publishing Institute.
