A New “Modern” Mac & Cheese is Coming to Southeastern Wisconsin

Right where it belongs!

The “modern” mac and cheese restaurant? What is that? Some people would say simply, “awesome.” D-day for a new fast-casual restaurant devoted to this creation is Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017.  Green chile pepperjack, buffalo chicken, chicken bacon jalapeño ranch, Wisconsin (which includes bratwurst, mozzarella, cheddar and caramelized onions) and bacon cheeseburger are among the made-to-order mac options at Grate Mac & Cheese.

The parent company is Roaring Fork Restaurant Group, owner of many Qdoba Mexican Eats franchises in the area. The mac and cheese joint occupies 2,500 square feet in the Whitestone Station development (N92 W16125 Falls Parkway).

Diners can watch their mac and cheese creation as it cooks in the restaurant’s Woodstone oven. For the all-important dairy aspect, Roaring Fork is working with family-owned, Sturgeon Bay-based Renard’s Cheese (a company known for its cheese curds and bricks of cheddar, Colby, Muenster and others) and Sassy Cow Creamery, of Columbus, Wis. The menu also has salads, a kids’ menu and a couple of desserts.

Hours: daily 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m.
