Milwaukee Rep’s Production Facility Is Moving to Tosa

The move comes ahead of The Rep’s Associated Bank Theater Center project at the East Wells Street location.

The Milwaukee Repertory Theater will move its production facility to an industrial building in Wauwatosa.

The facility at 1300 Glenview Place, immediately west of Wauwatosa’s Village, will be where The Rep builds, paints and stores sets and props for its productions. Currently, all of that takes place onsite at the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre’s complex on East Wells Street.

The move to the newly renovated 35,000-square-foot facility is expected to take place in May and will allow for the construction of larger sets.

“The new Wauwatosa facility will allow us to create even larger, more visually stunning sets and detailed props…” The Rep noted in an Instagram post.

The move will also allow for more expanded community outreach and educational programs in the Herzfeld Foundation Education & Engagement Center at The Rep’s Downtown center, Milwaukee Repertory Theater spokeswoman Frances White said.

The Rep is one of the largest providers of arts education programs in the Midwest focusing on literacy, critical thinking and social-emotional learning. The Herzfeld Education & Engagement Center will feature state-of-the-art rehearsal, performance and classroom spaces to serve the more than 20,000 students in The Rep’s in-school and after-school programs, as well as various community initiatives.

Construction of The Rep’s $75 million Associated Bank Theater Center project is scheduled to begin in May, after the 2023-24 season concludes.

The Associated Bank Theater Center will replace The Rep’s Patty & Jay Baker Theater Complex at 122 E. Wells St. and be located on the same site. It will include three state-of-the-art performance spaces, a large, unified lobby and venues with modern audience amenities.
