Milk Can Diner’s reign in the old Ferch’s Malt Shoppe space in Greendale (5636 Broad St.) is coming to an end. The owners shared their plans to shutter that location – which opened not quite two years ago – after service on Sunday, Oct. 1. The post encouraged diners to visit their other businesses – Bass Bay Brewhouse and Milk Can Diner, both in Muskego.
The reason for the closing? None given, and I’ve reached out for more details. The Milk Can concept started as a burger-centric food truck in 2019. When they first opened in 2021, they served a pretty good breakfast. The menu is more than that, though, including sandwiches (spicy chicken, club, tuna melt, Reuben and many more), meatloaf, chicken fried chicken, loaded mac and cheese, and a fish offered every day.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!
To close out its last week in Greendale, it will be open Wed-Thurs 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Fri 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sat 8 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sun 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
Milk Can’s Greendale closing announcement:
It is with a very heavy heart that I tell all of you that my partners and I have decided to close The Diner. The last two years have taught us a lot about ourselves and as a company. This decision did not come easily by any means, but we are turning our focus to our two other restaurants in Muskego, Bass Bay Brewhouse and Milk Can Hamburgers & Frozen Custard. We want to thank our wonderful staff for their hard work, and the community for their support. Honestly, we wish that we would’ve been able to serve this community for much longer than we were able to.
We will be open our normal hours Wednesday thru Sunday next week with our last day of service being on Sunday, October 1st. We invite you to use this as an opportunity to enjoy your favorite diner classic and to say goodbye to our staff one last time. Any gift cards that are not used this week will be able to be redeemed at Milk Can in Muskego. My team and I look forward to serving all of you again this week, and at our Muskego locations in the future.
