Meet the Dog Aboard Milwaukee’s Paddle Tavern

Captain Tim calls Galley his “fur mate.”

Galley the boat dog has a ruff job. As the mascot of Milwaukee’s Paddle Tavern, the German shepherd’s duties include sticking his tongue out in the breeze, napping in the shade and being the face of the people-powered tour brand, which he kicks tail at.

Let’s just say it took about six years before the people on the RiverWalk [said], ‘Hey Captain Tim, we love you a lot,’” says Tim Larson, Paddle Tavern captain and Galley’s human. “It took him about six weeks, and now nobody talks about Captain Tim any more.”

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

Galley was just a puppy when he started, and now he’s such a river celebrity that he even has a standing order at the restaurants the Tavern stops at: two chicken breasts, diced with no seasoning.
