This year's bash will feature WMSE's biggest lineup to date.

Local radio station 91.7FM WMSE will hold the 8th annual Backyard BBQ to show its appreciation for the station’s listeners on Saturday, Sept. 2

The Backyard BBQ will take place from Noon to 8 p.m. at the Humboldt Park Band Shell in Bay View. The event will feature many showstopper acts, both local and national, and a variety of food and beer from local vendors — including Milwaukee Brewing Co., which will have beer on tap.

Alejandro Escovedo, who was No Depression magazine’s Artist of the Decade in 1998, will be the headliner for the Backyard BBQ.

Other music acts performing include:

This will be the first time Gypsy Rock band Diego’s Umbrella has ever played in Wisconsin. The lineup also features Milwaukee local Greg Koch’s new band, the Koch-Marshall Trio; West Allis native front man Sean Raasch’s band, Twin Brother; and well-loved Milwaukee band Whiskey of The Damned.

Listener’s support of the station allows WMSE to continue their music programming, including the Big Band on Saturday Mornings, The Blues Drive, Orgullo Latino, Local/Live and their indie rock shows.

“We try every year to make the Backyard BBQ even more exciting than the last, and this year is our hottest lineup yet,” WMSE GM Tom Crawford said. “We are confident our listeners are going to love it and look forward to sharing an incredible day of music with each and every one of you.”
