Linda Marcus to Appear on Season 15 of ‘Project Runway’

The local designer and former news anchor started in handbags but expanded to clothing in recent years.

On September 15, Lifetime launches its new season of clothing design competition show “Project Runway.” It’s the 15th season of the show helmed by supermodel Heidi Klum, and Milwaukeeans aren’t exactly new to its stage. This season, Milwaukee’s own Linda Marcus will be one of the contestants, Entertainment Weekly reported today.

Marcus started designing nature-inspired handbags a handful of years ago using exotic leathers and furs. She has since added clothing separates to the mix, and showed a selection of them as part of a runway show celebrating Season 12 contestant Miranda Levy’s first collection post-“Project Runway.” Before focusing on design, Marcus was a morning news anchor on WTMJ.

Timothy Westbrook, whose intricate designs made sustainability a priority, also competed on Season 12 with Levy. This season’s guest judges include a slew of celebrities and celeb magazine editors, like designer Rebecca Minkoff, model-actress Emily Ratajkowski and model Lucky Blue Smith. And in more Milwaukee-“Project Runway” ties, Season 4 contestant Chris March will be designing Skylight Music Theatre’s costumes for its production of  La Cage Aux Folles (Nov. 18-Dec. 23).
