Summer’s arrival means the inevitable menu changes. Let’s take, for example, Tre Rivali at the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel (200 N. Broadway). Executive chef Heather Terhune is incorporating watermelon, artichokes, fresh corn and more into her summer menu. New dishes include chilled corn and saffron soup, wood-grilled pork spiedini, wood-grilled artichokes with grilled lemon and roasted garlic tarragon aioli, carrot gnocchi with house-made rabbit sausage, grilled Florentine steak for two (a 22-ounce Porterhouse served with duck-fast roasted potatoes, fried lemons and black truffle veal sauce) and – one of the more intriguing items – compressed watermelon topped with pickled watermelon rind, a corn fritella and cured ham ($9-$44).
Kimpton lead bartender Gen Longoria has also put her summer touch on the cocktail menu at the rooftop Outsider patio. New drinks range from Eighteen Hours of Noon (Pimm’s No. 1, Tanqueray, Luxardo cherry-infused ramazzotti, ginger lemon, cucumber and ginger beer – whew!) to Brave Hunter, Soft Speaker, which has mescal-reposado tequila cocktail with strawberry, red bell pepper, lime and cilantro, Bittercube Jamaican #2 and Stigler radler. Cheers to summer!
