June 6: Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound
We’re heading into June with another spectacular Jazz in the Park performance, this time by a Milwaukee native. Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound will take center stage on Thursday, June 6, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Cathedral Square Park. This local legend and his band will have you free-swinging to sounds from around the world.
Cebar took up music after he attended Milwaukee’s Lakefront Festival of the Arts in the 1960s, and has been playing ever since. From the local Milwaukee coffeehouse folk scene of the 1970s to annual performances at the Jazz & Heritage Festival in New Orleans, Cebar has been crafting his unique sound for decades.
The latest line-up for Cebar’s band “Tomorrow Sound” includes Bob Jennings on saxophone and keyboards, Mike Fredrickson on bass guitar, Reggie Bordeaux on drums and McKinley “Mac” Perkins on percussion. The current iteration of the band takes influence from African, Latin, Caribbean, reggae, zydeco, R&B and soul sounds — a veritable feast of musical stylings.
