June 28: We Six

Jazz in the Park is ready for another great Thursday night, as they welcome We Six jazz sextet on Thursday, June 28, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Cathedral Square Park. The Wisconsin Conservatory sextet consists of percussionist David Bayles, pianist Mark Davis, bassist Jeff Hamann, trumpterer Eric Jacobson, saxophonist Eric Schoor and guitarist Paul Silbergleit.

The group has officially been together for 16 years and has been performing together and teaching at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music ever since, though various members had been playing together for years even before that. Their musical performances range from original compositions to world beats and the full range of jazz.

If you don’t recognize their names from one of their notable performances, you may recognize it from their years of teaching. As part of WCM’s Jazz Institute, the sextet teaches music at some Milwaukee Public Schools, including James Madison High School. Some classes they have taught in the past include jazz history and jazz appreciation.

Stop by Jazz in the Park this Thursday to hear their passion come alive.
