July 5: Sweet Sheiks
Even though 4th of July festivities may be over, Jazz in the Park is still going strong. This week, Jazz in the Park welcomes Sweet Sheiks to Cathedral Square Park on Thursday, July 5, from 5 to 9 p.m. The local Milwaukee group has played throughout Wisconsin and will play their melodies for all to hear at Jazz in the Park.
Sweet Sheiks is composed of vocalist and guitarist Jen, vocalist and violinist Ousia, clarinetist Andrew, resonatorist and banjitarist Garrett and tubist Aaron. The band specializes in Bayou Jazz and Antique Pop, drawing inspiration from Eddie Condon, Wingy Malone, Phil Ochs and more.
The band even aims to bring back jazz and pop from the 1910s, 20s and 30s. So whether you’re coming to Jazz in the Park to dance or enjoy a pleasant picnic, the Sweet Sheiks will surely not disappoint.
