THERE’S NO DOUBT that cheese curds are a treasured staple item in Wisconsin. Celebrate National Cheese Curd day this year by getting a taste of some fresh, local cheese curds in the area.
1. Lakefront Brewery
1872 N. COMMERCE ST.
Lakefront Brewery will be serving cheese curds from their CurdWagon between 4-8 p.m. Just for the holiday, all of their specialty cheese curds will be available. Treat yourself to some cheese curds and relax on their Riverwalk patio.
Some of their specialty curds include VOTE Curds 2020, red and blue curds with sparkles and Garlic Ranch; Korean BBQ Curds, ginger, wasabi and Korean BBQ battered curds with sesame seeds, chives and lemon ginger aioli; Apple Crisp Curds sweet battered with fried apples, caramel and oatmeal crisp toppings and more.
Lakefront will also be offering dine-in or takeout from 4-9 p.m., although there will be limited seating. Click here to make a reservation.

2. Clock Shadow Creamery
138 W. BRUCE ST.
Clock Shadow Creamery is an urban cheese factory that produces a variety of fresh, local and artisanal cheeses. Some of their cheeses include Quark, fresh chèvre, cheddar and Mexican style cheese.
The original homemade cheddar cheese curds are known for their squeaking sound, and were created at Cedar Grove Cheese, Clock Shadow’s founding partner.
Want to know why they squeak? Learn more about the cheese curd production process, the history of cheese making and try some samples through a guided tour. Cheese factory tours are $3 for adults and $2 for children under 12 years old. Tours are normally 30 minutes long and are offered every half hour between 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

3. Culver’s
MULTIPLE LOCATIONS
Culver’s cheese curds are made using fresh, un-aged yellow and white Wisconsin cheddar cheese, deep-friend to golden brown.

4. AJ Bombers

Although mostly known for its burgers and beer, AJ Bombers sells delicious cheese curds as well. Try some of their fresh Wisconsin cheddar cheese curds, which are served with a chipotle ranch sauce for $6.50.
5. Wisconsin Cheese Mart
215 W. HIGHLAND AVE.
Visit the Wisconsin Cheese Mart for some samples of fresh cheese, beer or local coffee at the attached Brüdd Cafe. You can be sure to find a cheese of your liking at the Wisconsin Cheese Mart with their countless cheese options based on type, flavor, milk type and more.
The cheese mart also offers various white or yellow cheddar cheese curd combinations.
6. Black Sheep

Try Black Sheep’s truffle parmesan and chive cheese curds. These curds are vegetarian and gluten free, and are seasoned with white truffle oil, parmesan and chives.
