Nitish and Ingrid Bangalore were walking through downtown Racine when they spotted Hotel Verdant. The engaged couple stopped in and were struck by the hotel’s vibrant, greenery-filled, modern look. “The space is beautiful,” Nitish says.
They explored the unique venue, had a delicious meal at the hotel’s Italian restaurant Marguerite, and decided that this was the perfect place for their upcoming wedding.
Hotel Verdant opened in the summer of 2023, with a natural aesthetic inspired by the nearby lakefront and river. The hotel was sustainably designed, earning a LEED Gold Certification for its geothermal well heating system, wind turbines, solar array and other green features.
As you might imagine from the hotel’s name, it embraces greenery, with beautiful plants throughout the spaces, and the rooftop bar offers a panoramic view. The hotel quickly attracted national attention, earning a spot on the Best New Hotels list by USA Today and Best Hotels in the Midwest by Conde Nast Traveler.
The hotel’s Belle Ballroom is an elegant space for weddings, holding up to 125 guests. Nitish and Ingrid were planning an intimate celebration, and chose to have both the ceremony and reception at the hotel. They had the ballroom divided in half, holding the ceremony first in one portion before moving to the other for the reception.
“The entire process was seamless,” Ingrid says. “They offered us so many options to customize the wedding and make it special.”
Hotel Verdant – which also hosts corporate events – offered onsite catering from the hotel restaurant and group room blocks, among much more. Nitish’s family was coming from out of town, and the Hotel Verdant staff helped him book special accommodations with handicapped accessibility to meet his family’s needs. The hotel even helped work in one relative who missed the booking deadline.
Hotel Verdant’s location was another factor in the couple’s choice. Located in downtown Racine, it’s a short walk from restaurants, bars, parks and the lakefront so guests have plenty of options for entertainment.
The hotel’s lobby includes a beautiful fireplace that made a striking backdrop for many of the couple’s photos before and after the ceremony.
“Our room was fantastic,” Nitish says of the Presidential Suite. “It was a gorgeous space.”
And the couple especially remembers the kindness of the staff. Some of the kids at the reception were singing karaoke past the time the wedding was supposed to end.
“We were there too long because the kids were having so much fun,” Nitish says. “The staff told us it wasn’t a problem if we stayed, that they were just glad to be there for us. We really appreciated that. They did a great job.”
