In April, Wild Planet Hospitality Group will open a new wood-oven pizzeria concept.

Scallop giardiniera pasta and clam-endive-bacon pizza are two of the specialties planned for DiModa Pizza & Hotspot, the restaurant replacing Trocadero (1758 N. Water St.). Parent company Wild Planet Hospitality Group closed Trocadero (which had operated for 16 years) back in January.

Wild Planet purchased Trocadero from Lowlands Group (owner of Cafe Hollander, among other restaurants) back in 2014 and also operates Red Rock Saloon, The Brass Alley and Red Lion Pub.

Their new restaurant will have a wood-burning oven and serve a “creative” selection of pizzas and “modern” Italian dishes, according to a press release. Other items include spicy brick chicken, Sardinian-style clams and fregola pasta, “devil’s pie” (pizza with nduja spreadable salami, roasted peppers and giardiniera) and spicy charred pepperoni pizza.

DiModa is slated to open in late April.
