Here’s What We Do (and Don’t) Know About Summerfest’s New September Dates

We’re still picking our jaws up after hearing the news that Summerfest will now be in September.

Summerfest is going to be in September now. I repeat, Summerfest is going to be in September now. That’s unheard of.

With so much news circulating about how this could change this year’s big festival, we thought we’d make it a little bit easier for you. Following are the answers to five frequently asked questions.

1. When is Summerfest 2020?

Summerfest 2020 has been moved to September 3-5, 10-12 and 17–19, 2020. Something worth noting about these dates: This year, Summerfest will hit three weekends, which is a change from year’s past, when much of the event took place during mid-week.

2. Is that even summer any more?

Technically, those dates still land in summer – though barely. Fall starts on September 22 this year. They just made it.

3. Will they call it Fallfest instead of Summerfest?

Probably not. Though it is worth noting that the news release said Summerfest is “rescheduled for Fall 2020,” even though (as you just read) the dates are still technically summer. We smell a conspiracy theory.

4. Why did they decide to move the event?

Here’s a direct quote: “The music industry has been profoundly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and most live events scheduled for early summer have been cancelled.  In the interest of safety and in cooperation with artists, Summerfest 2020 will move to new dates.”

5. Will this affect the artist that come to the event this year?

We don’t know yet. Summerfest will be continuing to provide updates as the event adapts to the current health criss and new dates. They too, are complying with Gov. Tony Evers’ Safer at Home order. Their offices are closed.
