Over 57 independent artists will showcase work this weekend as part of Wisconsin Craft’s MKE Studio Tour. The interactive, self-guided tour will feature opportunities to talk with artists, view one-of-a-kind pieces and purchase handcrafted work at 22 locations in and around Milwaukee.
“Ideally, we would like people to get to know the artists in their neighborhood or explore artists in a neighborhood they have never been to before. It’s special to be able to see an artist’s work in person and view their studio spaces where they create,” says Jean Wells, Wisconsin Craft president and participating artist on the tour (Jean’s Clay Studio, Stop #1 in Brown Deer). “Many of our tour stops also have ‘guest artists’ so there will be a variety of art and artists to connect with at each location, and opportunities to shop.”

The self-guided pace makes for a relaxing day packed full of local talent, ranging from pottery to painting and more. Wisconsin Craft is passionate about creating spaces for local artists to thrive and cultivate connection throughout different mediums. MKE Studio Tour and Morning Glory Art Fair are the organization’s events.
“Wisconsin Craft believes artists can be strong cultural assets in their communities. Plus, they are small business owners, so events like this help establish personal connections with mutual benefits to both the artisan and community members,” says Wells. “We encourage people to invite a friend and spend part of the day or the entire weekend exploring art around Milwaukee County.”
