DanDan’s Owners Are Opening a New Restaurant

The restaurant is opening on April Fool’s Day but it’s not a joke!

A new dining establishment is coming to the Third Ward, courtesy of chefs Dan Jacobs and Dan Van Rite. The owners of DanDan (360 E. Erie St.) will open Fool’s Errand in the space formerly occupied by Fauntleroy (316 N. Milwaukee St.). The opening is slated for Thursday, April 1. The duo closed Fauntleroy in July 2020.

Their new concept will focus on “indulgent comfort food,” according to a press release, with dishes including a BLT made with thick house pork belly, steak Diane, matzo ball soup, chicken liver toast, a patty melt, potato pierogies and fried chicken.

Nominations are open for the 2024 Unity Awards!

The interior will undergo a light refresh, including the addition of wall coverings featuring various scenes of a snipe (a mythical creature referenced in a specific fool’s errand called a snipe hunt). The snipe will be a prominent visual representation in the restaurant.

On March 19, Fool’s Errand will offer limited to-go orders on Friday and Saturday nights. Reservations can be made on the website

The restaurant will open for full dinner service Thurs-Sat and Sunday brunch. Reservations can be made on Tock.
