DanDan (360 E. Erie St.), the Third Ward’s American-Chinese restaurant, is embracing its sweet side. Rather, DanDan’s executive pastry chef Jaceleen Latin-Kasper is expanding her sweet side by opening Batches, an American bakery, across the street from DanDan, at 401 E. Erie St. Her partners in the bakery are DanDan owners Dan Jacobs and Dan Van Rite.

Batches, targeted to open in early 2018, will be a grab-and-go stop for breakfast and lunch, a spot to get a coffee and piece of bakery, and the headquarters for all the baking operations for DanDan and EsterEv (the on-site, prix-fixe menu-serving resto-within-a-resto). The space will seat 15 to 20. To-go offerings will include wraps, salads, soups and quiche.
EsterEv’s pastry chef Linda Thai will take on the role of sous chef at Batches.
Hours-to-be: Tues-Fri 7 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sat 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
