It’s not cool to live in this state and say you hate brandy. “Hate” is a strong word, so let’s go with dislike, especially vis-à-vis old fashioneds.
The Tin Widow (703 S. Second St.) isn’t reworking cocktaildom with its Old Forester bourbon old fashioned. But it is making liquid bliss. The drink’s other key components, per The Tin Widow’s owner-operator Samuel Berman, are muddled orange, “love juice” (a reduction of cola and pinot noir), sour soda, Angostura bitters and chewy tart-sweet Luxardo cherries.
