City for Sale

Promoting our civic greatness in 30 seconds or less

You’re a proud Milwaukeean. You don’t listen to the naysayers who say Madison is nicer, or Minneapolis has a lot more to offer. But when someone asks you what your city is like, perhaps you find yourself fumbling for the right words to encapsulate Milwaukee’s finest features. Fumble no more: VISIT MILWAUKEE has concocted a series of “elevator pitches,” ranging in length from 20 to 450 words (that’s one long elevator ride), to help you put our collective best foot forward. Next time someone asks, “What’s a Milwaukee?” consider this response:

“Milwaukee – an urban easy city on Lake Michigan. Your ideal summer fun getaway for lakefront festivals, the Harley-Davidson Museum, Brewers baseball and [the] renowned Milwaukee County Zoo.” The full assortment of pitches can be found at

If “urban easy” doesn’t accurately describe your lifestyle, and you can come up with something better, be our guest! Send your 20-word pitch to, and we’ll decide whose is the most compelling.
