You can't get anything past the Department of Transportation!

In Wisconsin, it’s relatively easy to put a custom message on a license plate. Pay $15 a year, and your vehicle can say whatever you want it to, so long as the desired witticism runs seven characters or fewer. Well, almost whatever. Turns out there’s a decency standard, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation rejects many plates. Here are a few that won approval, and some that got a “Sorry, please try again.”
