4 Ways To Enjoy Milwaukee’s Art Scene on a Budget

You don’t need to pay big bucks to enjoy the arts in Milwaukee.

1. Take Advantage of Theatre Discounts

Skylight Music Theatre offers rush tickets 30 minutes before showtime at 50% off. Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Renaissance Theaterworks and Next Act often include one pay-what-you-choose performance per production. Students and seniors can also find discounts at many performances.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

2. View Art on the Cheap

Milwaukee Art Museum is pay-what-you-wish on Thursday nights, and the Charles Allis Art Museum and Racine Art Museum are free on the first Thursday and Friday of the month, respectively. Plus, the Haggerty Museum of Art and John Michael Kohler Arts Center are always free.

3. Check Out Smaller Venues

Go small! A variety of budget-friendly shows can be found at smaller venues such as the South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center and Oak Creek Performing Arts and Education Center. And theater groups in the Small Arts and Culture Cohort tend to be more affordable without sacrificing quality.

4. Find Affordable Classical Concerts

Every classical concert by Festival City Symphony is free with a suggested donation ($14 for adults; $8 for children, students and seniors). Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra and UW-Milwaukee and Marquette music ensembles also offer tickets for $25 or below.
