Some decorated beers to drink now

MILWAUKEE CLEANED up this fall at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. The best part: You can easily find all three of Cream City’s medal winners in cans year round.

Gold: American Sour Ale

MOBCRAFT LOW PHUNK | 4.2% ABV

This light, gently tart crusher is made with a solera technique, each fresh batch blended into an aged portion from all earlier batches. The result is a bright, slightly grassy and lemon-citrusy beer with just a hint of the funky depths of more traditional sours.

Silver: Hazy Juicy IPA

CITY LIGHTS HAZY IPA | 7% ABV

City Lights’ version of the hottest style in craft beer bested a jaw-dropping 346 other entries – the competition’s most crowded category. It’s sneaky good: over owing with juicy notes of mandarin orange, pineapple and grapefruit snipped o with a moderate, clean-finishing bitterness.

Silver: Rye Beer

THIRD SPACE UNITE THE CLANS | 5.8% ABV

It’s the third straight medal for Unite the Clans, a Scottish ale that uses the rye of its category subtly. A slightly spicy aroma note and finish bookend a pleasing and extraordinarily balanced toffee-chocolate character.
