Photo by Adam Ryan Morris Congratulations! If you made it through Milwaukee’s brutal winter unscathed, you are a part of history. For you young ’uns, this was likely the coldest winter you’ve ever endured. For all of us, the 52 days with more than a dusting of snowfall was a record (tied with three other brutal seasons). We also somehow made it through 92 straight days of snow on the ground. And remember that stretch of 28 (!) days when the mercury never rose above freezing? Us neither. (Thanks Christian Brothers!) But that’s all in the past. Let’s focus on the now. As in, now we want to get outside and feel the sun on our face. Now we want to feel the blades of grass underfoot as we dance the night away. Now the closest we want to get to something cold is a frosty mug of beer. So for this year’s City Guide, we’ve decided to focus on events that take place under blue skies or starlit nights. The law of averages says Mother Nature has to throw us a bone this summer. So toss out your vitamin D, and let’s get outside to enjoy the most-anticipated time of the year. There are only 2,232 hours of summer, and we aim to spend most of them soaking up the sun.
The 2014 City Guide appears in the June 2014 issue of Milwaukee Magazine.
