This Bites: Restaurants Serving Thanksgiving Meals

Sweet Diner’s news, the Holiday Folk Fair and much more.

Hey, it’s time for our pre-Thanksgiving installment This Bites, on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, with Tarik Moody and me. Our topics will definitely have you thinking about canned cranberry sauce and green bean casserole, if your mind hasn’t already veered in that direction. Has a certain I-don’t-want-to-cook feeling set in? You’re in the right place. We’ll tell you about some restaurants serving a T-giving meal on Thursday. But reservations, at this point, will be tight.

The Third Ward’s Sweet Diner (239 E. Chicago St.) is not only a year old. It recently added a catering arm to the business called Sweet Life, which is run by Ana Docta, who operated the former Kasana restaurant. Sweet Life is doing a special, pre-order Thanksgiving dinner that serves six — for you to pick and enjoy at home.

The Holiday Folk Fair is this weekend, Nov. 16-18 at the State Fair Park Exposition Center. There’s no event in town that offers more diverse foods from many cultures all under one roof. Learn more about it and which foods you can sample there. And stick around to hear more about our Thanksgiving plans and why Tarik thinks more people should stray from the traditional turkey menu.

Ann Christenson has covered dining for Milwaukee Magazine since 1997. She was raised on a diet of casseroles that started with a pound of ground beef and a can of Campbell's soup. Feel free to share any casserole recipes with her.
