This Bites: ‘Milwaukee Kitchen’ Cooking Show and 414 Day

The culinary podcast featuring 88Nine’s Tarik Moody and MilMag’s Ann Christenson talking about all things dining-related.

The latest This Bites podcast (on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee) is ready for consumption. Our first topic of discussion is the YouTube cooking show ‘Milwaukee Kitchen,’ whose first season is available for streaming, and there’s a viewing party for the show on May 10 at Woodland Pattern Book Center, where you can meet the cast and crew, watch Season 1 episodes, enjoy a potluck meal and more.

The owners of Rice N Roll are gearing up for the opening of their Tosa Japanese restaurant, Kin, this month. With its larger size, Kin will have more seating and bar serving wine, beer and sake, plus a menu that includes seasonal fish and Thai street food.

Two events happening this Saturday involve drink. Bittercube Bar & Bazaar is holding a beer cocktails workshop from 4-5 p.m., and Stein & Dine 2019 takes over the Wisconsin Exposition Center at State Fair Park from 1-6 p.m.

This Sunday (April 14) is 414 Day, a time to celebrate all things Milwaukee. One of the events du jour is Purple Door Ice Cream’s new flavor roll-out. The Walker’s Point-based shop is debuting Purple Moon, its (purple) rendition of the well-known Blue Moon flavor. All day they’re giving out free 1-ounce scoops of Purple Moon at their two locations (in Walker’s Point and at the Sherman Phoenix).

Ann Christenson has covered dining for Milwaukee Magazine since 1997. She was raised on a diet of casseroles that started with a pound of ground beef and a can of Campbell's soup. Feel free to share any casserole recipes with her.
