Best of Milwaukee 2017: 4 Things to Look Forward To

Coming soon to Milwaukee…

Shake Shack
Kopp’s is great. Oscar’s is great, and so is [fill in the blank with your favorite burger place]. Now, make room for Shake Shack, a New York-based chain that may hurt local pride with its frozen custard. You be the judge, when the Third Ward location opens later this year.

Construction began on the hotly debated streetcar earlier this year, with an air of “let’s build the dang thing already.” The city has hosted a number of “Streetcar Socials” at businesses along the route to keep interest bubbling.

The Oriental Theatre’s New Owners
When we heard a new outfit would take over the historic East Side theater, we were terrified. But when the news broke in June, and the owner turned out to be Milwaukee Film (of the Milwaukee Film Festival), which signed a 31-year-lease, we were relieved and enchanted.

If you’re one of the legions of fans who “crave a different type of buzz,” then you’ll be thrilled to hear that the singer-songwriter is kicking off her second album’s tour at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on March 1, 2018. ◆
