Beer Events Brewing This Week: Oct. 9-13

Fall activities abound this week, and many of them are beer related, which is a good thing.

Wednesday, Oct. 9

Cheers to the Milwaukee Beer Society for this week’s get together at Best Place (901 W. Juneau Ave.). The theme is IPA throwbacks. You know, old school IPAs that are more bitter than juicy. Yeah, those. Sample a few from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

This week’s tap takeover at Ray’s Growler Gallery (8930 W. North Ave.) is being curated by Casey, a new hire. Get there at 5 p.m. to see what she’s come up with.

Thursday, Oct. 10

Lakefront Brewery is having a release party for My Turn: Ted Apple Ale at The Mecca Sports Bar and Grill (1134 Vel R. Phillips Ave.) from 6 to 10 p.m.

Lakefront Brewery and Great Lakes Brewing are teaming up to take over some of the taps at Nessun Dorma (2778 N. Weil St.) from 4 to 10 p.m. And from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. they’ll be raffling off some brewery swag.

Chicago’s outstanding Maplewood Brewing is bringing a few of its beers to The Brass Tap (7808 W. Layton Ave.) at 6 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 11

Broken Bat Brewing (231 E. Buffalo St.) is re-releasing its 2018 Brandy Barrel-Aged Barleywine at 3 p.m. The beer has apparently aged quite well in the past year and there are 120 bombers of it available for Friday.

Sample beers from Maplewood at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) from 4 to 7 p.m.

Ahnapee and Dogfish Head are handing out samples at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) from 3 to 6 p.m.

Fall Family Fest comes to Milwaukee Brewing (1128 N. 9th St.) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be beer, face painting, and for $10, families can purchase a pumpkin carving kit.
